23 Weeks!

I really can’t believe how fast time is flying now. 23 weeks already?! Wow. She’ll be here before we know it!

So, these pictures were taken last week, and tomorrow is technically 24 weeks, but I didn’t want to miss posting these.

Getting bigger!Esther and Christmas tree 1209 003

We’re just days away from Christmas and I’m happy to say that I’ve got all my decorating, shopping, sewing, and wrapping done. Finally. YAY! All that’s left is the baking!

I’m excited for Christmas this year. My nephew Hayden is about 11 months old, and this (of course) will be his first Christmas. I can’t wait to watch the mayhem that ensues when they put him in front of the presents and let him go at it!! :) Hopefully we’ll have some more good pictures to post soon!

Baby Pictures!

I finally got around to taking some still shots of the ultrasound DVD they gave us at the doctor’s office a few weeks ago, and here they are! Enjoy our baby's first "pictures"!

In this first one her hand is up by her head, so it looks like she’s got a little Mohawk! But it’s just her fingers.

Profile 2

Here’s the one the tech said was like “she’s sitting on a copy machine”. She looked for a long time and was very confident the baby is a girl. Rob suspected that was the case all along! Hopefully she’ll forgive me later for posting this one.

Girl!

Now we just need a name… Any suggestions?? :)

Also, today marks 22 weeks! I have had a terrible head cold all week, so no pictures of the tummy to share. But here’s where the punkin is:

22-spaghetti-squash22 weeks, a spaghetti squash! WOW!

I’ve been feeling kicks a lot more regularly than I had before, which does wonders to ease a worrying mind (which I always seem to have lately). I can’t wait to meet her!

This weekend I’m hoping to get started on my Christmas baking and get my Christmas cards sent out. Here’s to hoping I get it all done!!

Have a great week everyone!

Today

Have you ever had that “stuck-in-a-rut” feeling, like you’ve been doing the same thing for too many days in a row and you just need a change? Me too!

Today I got the chance to go with my mom to get out of the house and do a little Christmas shopping. We had a great time! We got a little of this, and a little of that, and I was able to cross a few things off my Christmas gift list.

We also stopped in the maternity section at Kohls, and I ended up with these (thanks, mom!):

490671_Chocolate

GREATEST MATERNITY PANTS EVER. And they’re corduroys, who would have thought?! I’ve never owned a pair of cords that I can remember, but I’m telling you now, if you don’t have some, YOU NEED SOME. They are fantastic!

Also, my Dad had picked out a shirt for a Christmas present, but somehow it ended up as a Happy New Shirt present for me today instead. See?

481345_Yellow_Cream

It’s a great shirt! Very comfy, and the sleeves actually fit my too-long ape arms. I think I need about 17 more of these!

So, a nice day out and a few new clothes can really make a difference. I feel great today! I’m feeling the baby kick here and there also, which is just about the greatest thing ever. :)

How was your day today?

So Thankful

I can’t begin to tell you how thankful I am this year. There are so many things I’m grateful for, I don’t even know where to begin…

My wonderful husband. What a year we’ve had! A new job, a few ups and downs, and now starting a family! I love you very much!

DSC01752

A baby! We are very blessed to be pregnant and can’t wait to meet our daughter in April. I can’t believe I’m already more than half way there! Time is sure flying by these days.

DSC01739

A supportive (and understanding) family. I couldn’t ask for better parents or parents-in-law, or better sisters or brothers, or nephews! Thank you all for being there for me and being patient with me this year, and especially these last few months in particular! I couldn’t do this without you.

DSC01745

A nice house, good cars, clothes, food, basic necessities. There are so many people out there without these things, I do my best not to take what I have for granted. Sometimes it’s tough.

Stable jobs for Rob and I. While there may be changes coming, it’s wonderful to have good jobs right now and a (more or less!) stable future. And no matter what the future holds, we’ll get through it together.

We had a fantastic- if eventful- Thanksgiving! The food was good, the company great, and only one person needed stitches! :) Poor mom, just as the turkey was being carved and we were sitting down to eat, she cut her finger and dad had to take her to the hospital. It could have been far worse though! 7 stitches and 2+ hours later, they were home and we finally got to eat all the fantastic food! I think I was full all weekend.

DSC01755

The baby is doing great and kicking all over the place! Rob finally got to feel the “mini mango-tree legs” in action! Maybe we have another soccer player on our hands. :) We go in again tomorrow to the doctor to review the ultrasound results; he wasn’t there last week when we got the ultrasound done. The tech didn’t see any problems, and was VERY certain that she’s a she, but the doc will tell us all the details tomorrow. Almost 21 weeks! Sheesh!!

I hope your Thanksgiving was as good as ours was. And now it’s time for Christmas!! I can’t wait. We decorated our tree and the living room last night. Here’s to hoping I’m able to get the Christmas cards out on time! :)

Long Awaited

I have to apologize for the delay since the last post. It's been a while! We've been fighting off a flu (well, Rob has, I didn't get it thank goodness), working on Christmas presents, gearing up for Thanksgiving, things have just been busy lately!

I don't have any pictures to post, but I do have one bit of news I'd like to share. We went to the doctor today for our 20 week ultrasound. 20 weeks already! Time is flying! So, the baby is healthy and was moving around a lot, she said the size and height measurements were right on track for our April 14 due date. And...
We couldn't be more excited!! Thanksgiving is this Thursday, so we'll have lots of picture-taking opportunities! I'll make sure to get a few good ones and post them shortly. We hope everyone has a happy Thanksgiving too! We sure have a lot to be thankful for this year. :)

Celebrate!

We have lots to celebrate this week! We hit the 17 week mark with the baby on Wednesday, my good friend Lesley got married on Saturday, and Rob was baptized on Sunday! Hooray!! I don't have pictures of the wedding or the baptism yet but as soon as I get them, I'll be sure to share.

I do have pictures of 17 weeks! It really seems like time is starting to fly by lately! I have been getting LOTS of headaches, but a little Tylenol and (doctor recommended) caffeine here and there is really seeming to help. Now if I could just find a good solution to the 4 AM snack breaks, we'd be all set! Unfortunately I am not a big fan of waking up to eat. I guess it's good preparation for when I'll be getting up to feed someone else though, right?

Rob wanted to be included this week also, so here he is at 17 weeks too! :)

And last but of course not least, here's the punkin this week!
17 weeks: a turnip!

My mom is out of town for three weeks training for her new job at Dex. We're all very excited for her! It's actually the same job she retired from 9 years ago, but it had been calling her back and she couldn't stay away. She said she feels as if she never left! I'm glad it's working out so well, but we do miss her when she's gone! Good job, MOM! :)
Well, not much else to report on this week. I have a few friends that are pregnant and one that is getting pretty close to her due date. We're praying for you, Jess! Hang in there!
Have a good week everyone!

Happy Halloween!

This year we all went to Mom and Dad's house for Halloween and had pizza and spent some time chatting (and eating candy!). We didn't have many costumes to show off, just the Trick-or-Treat shirt I made, and Hayden the tiger! Nevertheless, we all had a great time.

We hope you had a good Halloween too! :)

Prayers

This was a week full of prayers for us. We attend church most weekends at Real Life Ministries in Post Falls, and we go to a home group church meeting on Wednesday nights, so we tend to do a lot of praying anyway, but this week was especially full of prayers for us.
Answered prayers came in the form of a great doctor's appointment on Monday! We got to hear the heartbeat of the baby and the doctor said everything looks wonderful for both of us! We don't go back again until November 24th for the BIG ultrasound when we get to find out the sex of the baby. I can't wait!! So far the guesses have been split pretty evenly between boy and girl, but with 10+ boys and only one girl in our family so fart his generation, it might just be time for another girl! Only time will tell, I guess!
Here is me this week, at week 16. Thank you to my fantastic mother-in-law Eunice for the sweater in the second picture! It is a Christmas present, but Rob let me open it early as all my other sweaters are getting a little tight!

And here is where the punkin is:

16 weeks, an avocado!

Some other things we have been praying for this week aren't so fun to write about. We have a set of friends going through a separation and possibly trying to keep hold of their marriage. While the situation looks to be improving, it will be a long, tough road for their entire family.

Another long-time family friend is battling cancer, and still another has Alzheimer's and seems to be declining rapidly. We feel helpless in these situations and can only pray for strength and healing for everyone involved.

If you are any type of blogger at all, whether you write one of your own or just read them, you have most likely come across MckMama and her family at one time or another. Baby Stellan is in the hospital again and fighting to keep his heart working properly, and many people are praying for healing for him. She is far more eloquent than I will ever be, and she wrote a great post today about prayer on her blog. If you feel so inclined, check it out! I learned a lot. :)

Well, that's about all I have for tonight. Tomorrow is Halloween AND we get to turn the clocks back an hour for Daylight Savings time! I'm sure there will be pictures to share (of the costumes, not the time change... har har) and I'll make sure to post them here soon. Have a fun and safe Halloween!

Three Quick Takes

(I borrowed the "quick takes" idea from another blogger, but it works perfectly for me today!)

Take 1: 14 weeks! Yes, these are a little late, so 14 weeks 4 days to be exact. I feel like I'm less chubby and more baby this week, and YAY for that! Proof:
Less than 6 months to go now, and we'll be three. Time is starting to fly by already! We have a crib and a pack-n-play that we got at a second hand store here in town, and hopefully we'll be able to find a dresser and changing table there also. Most of their stuff is very nice!

This is the picture of the week for the punkin:
14 weeks, a lemon!

Take 2: Greenbluff! Rob and I ventured out to Greenbluff last weekend. For those of you that aren't here in Spokane, Greenbluff is an area north of us that is made up of 40+ local farms that grow everything from apples and pears, to squash and pumpkins. Fall is usually their busiest time of year as lots of people come to pick pumpkins and apples for Halloween. Rob had never been, and I hadn't been in years, so we decided it was time to go! We bundled up and headed out with some friends, and came home with three pumpkins and a box of apples! The pumpkins are on the porch, and today those apples will be made into apple butter, with any luck. :)
Take 3: Christmas! Yes, I said it. It's only 9 weeks away, people! *Gasp!* The stores are becoming overrun with snowmen and candy canes already, so I decided I'd get a jump on the gift list, too! Mom and I are busy planning and sewing this weekend, and with any luck I'll accomplish everything I set out to do this year. That would be something of a miracle, seeing as how I always have to change plans and end up doing the last minute shopping thing the week before Christmas... Hopefully if I start this early I'll get it all done!
Are any of you getting into Christmas mode yet? I know, I know, it's not even Halloween yet, but hey- the stores start it earlier every year, I might as well get a head start too, right?
Or am I just nuts? Wait, don't answer that.

One Down, Two to Go!

This week we made it to a big milestone, week 13 and the second trimester! Hooray!! I'm really starting to feel much better and am getting my energy back. The headaches are back in full force also! That part is not so great. My appetite is not so wacky and I seem to be able to handle regular smells without gagging, which is a real blessing! It was getting to the point that the garbage or the fridge would send me to the bathroom because I couldn't handle the smell! I'm VERY glad that's gone.

Here's a picture of me at 13 weeks! Yes, I look super-tired but it was late! Like 8:30! Bedtime has moved up at our house lately. :)

The picture of the punkin this week was a shrimp, and I thought it looked a little icky, so I didn't post it. A shrimp! Gross. I hope next week is better!

One of the things that I've been thinking about a lot this week is the Swine Flu vaccine, and the regular flu vaccine too. With all the sick people around these days the pressure has been on to Get Your Flu Shots! It's even been on the news and in commercials! Personally, I've never gotten a flu shot of any sort and I've never gotten the flu, so I don't put a lot of faith in the vaccines being all they're cracked up to be. I'm still working out how I feel about other vaccines for babies and kids, but that's a whole different post...

Anyway, there is a lot of info out there about what goes into these flu shots, and some of the ingredients (like mercury) are not recommended during pregnancy (not even in tuna) so I don't think getting it shot directly into my arm is a very smart thing to do. The new H1N1 shot is also just this month being tested on pregnant women, and no one really knows yet what the risks to unborn babies could be. They say it's only safe for infants over the age of 6 months, so I don't know why it would be safe for a baby in the womb.

All that to say this: no flu shots for me! Or Rob, for that matter. We're usually pretty healthy people, and between the vitamins I take each day and the fact that I work at home and not in a crowded office building, I think I'll take my chances and pass on the flu vaccines this year.

I would love to hear your opinions, as this is something I've given a lot of thought to. Let me know what you think!

On the Mend

Hello again! I am learning that I'm not the best at keeping this as updated as I would like, but between sore throats, coughs, headaches and upset tummies, we've been a bit busy around here! We're all starting to feel better now though, and no one (except my poor dad) got this round of the fall cold bug too terribly bad. Thank goodness for Vicks Shower Soothers! Those things are the greatest invention ever. They certainly helped us feel better fast!
Also, I should admit that we have a new addiction: Dexter! Best show on TV these days. We spent far more than enough time watching all three past seasons in order to catch up with season four that started last week. What can I say? :)

Overall I'm feeling much better these days. No more morning sickness at all really. I don't know how my sissy did it, she was sick for months! I'm just glad to be able to eat meat again, and not just stove-top stuffing and pickles! But that does sound good right about now...
Well, not much else to report but I do owe you a few weeks of tummy pictures! Here was last week, week 11:

And here's week 11 for the punkin!

11 weeks, a fig!

And yesterday marked 12 weeks! I'm very excited, at the end of this week they consider me officially in my second trimester. Time is really starting to fly by!

The punkin at 12 weeks!

12 weeks, a lime!

(Finally, a fruit I'm familiar with!)

As far as getting prepared goes, we're really not even hardly started. We have a few things for the baby so far, jammies and bibs that my mom got for us, a blanket or two, some books and a baby bathtub that a lady at our church home group picked up for us at a garage sale for 2 bucks! I'm all about good deals! I know we have a LONG way to go, more than 6 months! So I'm not to concerned about it yet. I do love to shop though, and what is more fun than shopping for babies! If you know of something, please tell me. :)

Anyway, my good friend Lesley is having a wedding shower this weekend for her upcoming November wedding and there's planning to do! I hope everyone is doing well and staying healthy. See you soon (I hope)!

Doing Great!

So, we had a bit of a scare today, but everything turned out just fine, thankfully. I went to the doctor's office this morning with what I thought was maybe a bladder infection and a LOT of pain. The doctor tried to listen to the heartbeat but couldn't find it at first. At one point he even said something like, "Hmmm... I wonder if it's still there?" THAT was a really good way to scare me half to death, thanks doc! I could have smacked him; he just wasn't my favorite doc. At all. Hopefully next time we'll get to see a different doc in the practice.

We ended up doing an ultrasound (which Rob missed unfortunately) and saw the baby and heard a good strong heartbeat! Looked like it was about 176 beats per minute which is great!

So anyway, just a quick update to let you all know we're both healthy and doing just fine! Also, no bladder infection, thank goodness! I will try and post the ultrasound pictures later if I can get them into my computer somehow.

Hooray! :)

Home Again, Home Again!

Jiggity Jog! I can't tell you how nice it was to be able to take a break from work and everyday life to visit the coast and take a trip to Denver, but boy is it nice to be home! I don't think I've ever been so tired after a trip!

We had a fantastic time this weekend in Colorado with Rob's parents, visiting with them, climbing mountains, riding trains, and eating good food. Here are just a few pictures of the trip, the rest are on my Picasa site. Be warned, though, there are quite a few scenery pictures! :)

On the baby front, we are at ten weeks pregnant now! I'm sorry I missed the 9 week picture, we were tired out and didn't take one. But here is ten weeks (sorry it's a tad blurry)!

Here is where the punkin is this week: 10 weeks, a kumquat!

A little over an inch long now, with fingers and toes and moving around like a champ! Of course I can't feel it yet, but at the speed I'm growing it shouldn't be long! Ha!

We have our 12 week appointment at the end of this month, and hopefully we'll get to hear the baby's heartbeat! I can't wait!! Lately I've been eating everything in site (including pickles from the jar) and trying to keep from gaining a hundred pounds. OK, that may be a bit of an exaggeration seeing as how I've only gained 4 pounds total so far, but always being hungry is a new thing for me! We'll see how I do in the coming weeks and months. :)

Well, speaking of food it's time to get dinner started. I'll try not to wait so long to post next time, and I hope you all have a great week!

One Whole Year!

We made it! One whole year of married life and we are both loving each other and loving being married. We have such a blessed life these days! To celebrate our anniversary Rob and I traveled to the Oregon coast for a few days of relaxing and sight-seeing. Unfortunately, I forgot to take the camera to some of the best photo-taking opportunities, but we did get a few good pictures!

We stopped to see our good friends Kim and Steve in the Seattle area and had a wonderful teriyaki lunch. We don't have many good teriyaki restaurants in Spokane so it was quite a treat! Needless to say, the moment we got back in the car to head further south, I fell asleep because I was so full. Oh well! Rob said it was a pretty drive. :)

One of our favorite day trips took us on a very pretty hike to the Lighthouse at Dissapointment Cove, just outside Astoria, Oregon. It was absolutely gorgeous!

We also hiked to see a waterfall, drove around the little towns, went to a Sunday Morning Market, and took a peek at the ocean. It was a wonderful trip and a great way to celebrate the first year of our marriage! I can't wait to go back someday!

And in other news, we're in week 8 this week! I'm sorry these pictures are a little late, they are actually 8 weeks and 4 days. I am definitely noticing a difference in the way I look! My sis and a few of my friends have generously loaned me some maternity clothes, and it seems that it may be time to give up the old jeans, for now anyway! Oh well, it's for a worthy cause. :)

We went to the doctor on Wednesday and (finally) met one of the doctors in the practice that we hope will be our main doctor. They want us to see all the doctors of course, because no one but this baby knows when the Big Day will come, so who knows who will be on call, but we will have one that we prefer I'm sure. It was great! I found out that I'm immunized against all the major diseases that they worry about (thanks, mom!), and I have O+ blood which is also a good thing. The doc did an ultrasound and we got to see the baby! There was a strong heartbeat which he estimated to be at about 140 beats per minute. Things are looking perfect!

Here's me this week.

And here is the little punkin this week. 8 weeks: a kidney bean!

Hopefully it won't be too long until I get another chance to post. We're heading to Denver next weekend to see Rob's parents. Yay! I am excited, I haven't seen them since the wedding! I'm a little nervous about flying, but I'm sure things will be just fine.
Here's to another great week for us all! :)
